Happy Opening day blog! I cannot believe we are here. I can't believe I am saying that now at post 85, the whole experience up to this point has been remarkable. This post will be my last post before we get actual games! I am so excited, and I don't even care who wins tonight as long as we see some dingers. NL East: 1- Philadelphia Phillies- 43-17 2- Atlanta Braves 40-20 3- Washington Nationals 38-22 4- NY Mets 36-24 5- Miami Marlins 23-37 I had to do some soul searching for this division since I wrote my original predictions. The Phillies moved up for me cause they haven't lost any significant pieces to injury or COVID. The Phillies are healthy and experience and have enough depth to send their top pitching prospect down. I am in on the Bryce Harper and the Phillies. I sadly had to move the Braves down to a more realistic spot in my rankings. They have had the worst luck of any team with COVID hurting them. Today's post is going to be super simple for each division and why I think these teams will finish as they do. AL East: 1- NY Yankees- 45-15 2- TB Rays 41-29 3- Toronto Blue Jays- 33-27 3- Boston RedSox- 33-27 5- Baltimore Orioles- 22-38 The Yankees are locked and LOADED. Health is the most significant contingency factor for the Bronx Bombers. In a 60 game season with the depth pieces in the OF in Clint Frazier and Aaron Hicks and with P Paxton and Tanaka healthy. The Yankees are one tough team to beat even without Judge and Stanton off the field. The Ray's strength is their pitching along with great depth around the diamond. With Meadows being out to start the season hurts, I still believe they can win games on pitching along. The Blue Jays are all upside in my eyes. With Biggio, Bichetta, Guerro Jr all pushing for top 10 best at their positions, with better pitching and Pearson taking steps toward being number 2 to Ryu. Facebook.com/ballboyblog THE BIGGEST NEWS of the last couple days is The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed OF Mookie Betts to a 13 year contract worth 365 million which would pay him 30.41Mil annually. The contracts includes the 2020 season so its for the next 12 seasons. Betts will be in Dodgers blue until 2032 and until he is age 39. I think personally this is kind of shady for Betts to do. He was offered 10 years for 330 million from the Boston RedSox, which would have given him 33 million a year. Now he is going to make just under 30 mil a year. The contract with LA has him loosing 40 million! Overall, its a great move for the Dodgers as they now open up a little bit more room going forward and room to continue the dynasty. Yes, I do play fantasy baseball I have since I was 12 years old. I am a 2x champ since that time. One of those years was when Alex Rodriguez came back after suspension and had a solid year. The next was just back in 2017. Its been a grind. Fantasy Baseball is honestly one of the hardest fantasy sports to play. I highly enjoy it, but not for the weak. If you play MLB, The Show gets used to hearing the same crowd noise during games this season. The first thing I want to talk about is how well the MLB is doing with its testing and keeping players safe. Today July 17th, out of 17949 tests, there have only been 23 positive tests! The MLB shows all other sports that it can be done and can keep players and personnel safe. In some more COVID-19 news Yasiel Puig who just signed with the Braves tested positive for COVID-19 and is NOT going to sign with the team and will sit out until he has two tests back to back with negative results.
