IMO: Staying at the Bottom? AL Edition

What is going on guys, I hope you all are doing well. Today, we will look at the teams at the bottom of each division in the NL. We will see if this is where they belong or if their futures could be changing. The records as of 8/15 Time goes to the AL East to start this excellent article. For the first time in Franchise history, this team gave up 8+ runs for six games. They are sitting at 6-15, going 3-7 over their last 10. The Boston Red Sox aren't the worst team in baseball a 1/3 of the way into the season but are the worst in the AL. I saw this coming after losing Mookie, Price in a trade. Have Sale and E-Rod go down to injury. The Sox as a team have 24HR, 83RBI, 187K's, 252BA and 313OBP. Pillar is the BA leader with a 316BA, while the rest is 295BA or lower. The pitching staff is struggling as well or just in reality with a 5.86ERA. The starters each have an ERA of 3.38 or higher. While looking into the numbers deeper, I just dropped Eovaldi from my fantasy team. For the

Contender or Pretender- AL Edition

Hello, hello. HELLO! How I have missed you guys ever so much. It has been a chaotic month, and I am pushing through some serious writer's block, so please forgive me. This piece was written on Saturday 8/15 as an FYI Before we get into, I want to mention my friends over at Repp Sports and Raze Energy. I have been running on fumes the last few weeks, and Raze has been helping keep pushing. Raze Energy fuels the Blog We are going to get into Contender or Pretender in the National League today. I will look at the top 6 teams in the AL and their most significant strengths and weaknesses as we progress in the season. Being a 1/3 of the way into the race, its time to start digging a little deeper. 6- After having to option two of their better pitchers in Pleasac and Clevinger, the Cleveland Indians come in 6th place in the AL. This team's strength has been the rotation being lead by Biber and his 43K, followed by Civale and Carrasco, both also pitching exceptionally well. Karinc

Contender or Pretender- NL Edition

Hello, hello. HELLO! How I have missed you guys ever so much. It has been a chaotic month, and I am pushing through some serious writer's block, so please forgive me. Just as a side note, I wrote this on Saturday 8/15 Before we get into, I want to mention my friends over at Repp Sports and Raze Energy. I have been running on fumes the last few weeks, and Raze has been helping keep pushing. Raze Energy fuels the Blog We are going to get into Contender or Pretender in the National League today. I am going to look at the top 6 teams in the NL and their most significant strengths and weaknesses as we progress in the season. Being a 1/3 of the way into the race, its time to start digging a little deeper. 6- The San Diego Padres have been playing some great baseball to start the season. They are starting the season at 11-10, having lost 4 of their last five games to division rivals. The offense has been the biggest strength of the team being lead by Tatis Jr. We all saw this coming

IMO- 20/60 Around the Horn

We are now about one-third of the way into the 2020 season. It is time for us to talk about the 20 things we have seen. so far this season 1- Dad's strength is real! After Beckham Trout was born and Mike Trout returned to the lineup, he has hit 8HR. I think he is just tired, so then it turned into anger and then into dingers. Keep taking it out on that baseball; now he is tied for the most in the MLB. 2- I think Shane Bieber wants to strikeout everyone and make them look silly. He then settles for ground outs or flyballs. This man now has 54 K's in his first five starts this season. Just incredible. 3- Stars keep getting hurt. Stanton, Judge, Acuna, Stras, Lemahieu Madbum, Ohtani, Donaldson, and many more have gone down to injury this season. This hurts the game as we only have 60 games to see these stars play. 4- New household names on the rise- Shane Bieber, Fernando Tatis Jr, Eloy Jimenez, Ian Happ, Lewin Diaz, Dustin May, Luis Robert, and many more taking the game an

IMO: Staying at the Bottom? NL Edition

What is going on guys, I hope you all are doing well. Today, we will look at the teams at the bottom of each division in the NL. We will see if this is where they belong or if their futures could be changing. The records as of 8/15 I am starting West with the SF Giants. Who after Saturday's game are now 8-14. They have dropped two straight in the 9th, where they were in the lead. The guy they turned to in the 9th for two nights Gott got to the 9th again. We have seen some perfect ball played by Yastrzemski, Flores, and Solano, all hitting above .300. Veterans Longoria, Crawford, Pence, Sandoval, Beltall looking like their primes are behind them. With the team having hit 24HR, 89RBI, .246BA, and a 310OBP with 175 strikeouts. This offense isn't able to get the job done against much better competition in the NL and AL West. The pitching also isn't holding up to the tough AL/NL having a team 5.16ERA. The pitching isn't picking up the hitting with Webb and Menez only SP'

IMO: 10 Games in = 10 Surprises

What is going on, BLOG! I know I have been MIA since the beginning of the season. I have just been super busy! I moved, I 've worked about eight days in a row with no day off. Its just been busy. I have missed you guys, and I am ready to get back into with you guys! Happy August, welcome to level 8 of 2020. Okay, enough with the guff. 1- The biggest and not the biggest surprise is the uptick in positive COVID-19 cases. The Marlins were the first team to have a significant outbreak, making sense for a Florida based group. The MLB did launch an investigation into why the whole team was positive. We are now onto the ST. Louis Cardinals also have a small outbreak after team members went to a casino. The rumors around Mia were that they went to a gentlemen's club. To me, it doesn't matter what happened or how it happened. It is that they put the entire MLB at risk and threw some wrenches into plans. Manfred did institute some harsher punishments for those who break league man

Complete Opening Day Recap

Opening day has come and passed, and we have seen every teams play their first game. We noticed some history, we saw some injury, and we finally got to see some prospects. We also saw a ton of players around the MLB who took a knee in support of the BLM movement and the fight against systemic racism. Sidebar, the best thing I heard the last couple days was the sound of an HR in an empty park. Man, it's pretty. The first pitch of the season, as we know, was thrown by Dr. Anthony Fauci. That went a bit sideways; you could say as it was way off the plate. But the rest of that game was exciting. The game was delayed by rain and then continues. We then saw the first HR by a DH in a game where there was a universal DH; Giancarlo Stanton did this. The Nationals were without Juan Soto for the series after a positive COVID test. The Yankees ended up winning this game. The battle on the mound was great; Cole had 1ER and 5K, Scherzer had 4ER and 11K. Stanton is my MVP in this one with 3

IMO: Final NL Divisional Standings

Happy Opening day blog! I cannot believe we are here. I can't believe I am saying that now at post 85, the whole experience up to this point has been remarkable. This post will be my last post before we get actual games! I am so excited, and I don't even care who wins tonight as long as we see some dingers. NL East: 1- Philadelphia Phillies- 43-17 2- Atlanta Braves 40-20 3- Washington Nationals 38-22 4- NY Mets 36-24 5- Miami Marlins 23-37 I had to do some soul searching for this division since I wrote my original predictions. The Phillies moved up for me cause they haven't lost any significant pieces to injury or COVID. The Phillies are healthy and experience and have enough depth to send their top pitching prospect down. I am in on the Bryce Harper and the Phillies. I sadly had to move the Braves down to a more realistic spot in my rankings. They have had the worst luck of any team with COVID hurting them. Yasiel Puig was part of the team and then not because of a posi

IMO: Final AL Divisional Standings

Today's post is going to be super simple for each division and why I think these teams will finish as they do. AL East: 1- NY Yankees- 45-15 2- TB Rays 41-29 3- Toronto Blue Jays- 33-27 3- Boston RedSox- 33-27 5- Baltimore Orioles- 22-38 The Yankees are locked and LOADED. Health is the most significant contingency factor for the Bronx Bombers. In a 60 game season with the depth pieces in the OF in Clint Frazier and Aaron Hicks and with P Paxton and Tanaka healthy. The Yankees are one tough team to beat even without Judge and Stanton off the field. The Ray's strength is their pitching along with great depth around the diamond. With Meadows being out to start the season hurts, I still believe they can win games on pitching along. The Blue Jays are all upside in my eyes. With Biggio, Bichetta, Guerro Jr all pushing for top 10 best at their positions, with better pitching and Pearson taking steps toward being number 2 to Ryu. I have a hard time counting this team out of a lot o

Around the Horn: News and Notes

How are you guys doing today? Thanks for clicking over to the post today. I would love it if you followed the Facebook or told a friend about the blog today. Facebook.com/ballboyblog THE BIGGEST NEWS of the last couple days is The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed OF Mookie Betts to a 13 year contract worth 365 million which would pay him 30.41Mil annually. The contracts includes the 2020 season so its for the next 12 seasons. Betts will be in Dodgers blue until 2032 and until he is age 39. I think personally this is kind of shady for Betts to do. He was offered 10 years for 330 million from the Boston RedSox, which would have given him 33 million a year. Now he is going to make just under 30 mil a year. The contract with LA has him loosing 40 million! Overall, its a great move for the Dodgers as they now open up a little bit more room going forward and room to continue the dynasty. With this contract between Betts and Trout are signed for a combinded 806.5 Million. We will find out if

IMO- Fantasy Baseball

Yes, I do play fantasy baseball I have since I was 12 years old. I am a 2x champ since that time. One of those years was when Alex Rodriguez came back after suspension and had a solid year. The next was just back in 2017. Its been a grind. Fantasy Baseball is honestly one of the hardest fantasy sports to play. I highly enjoy it, but not for the weak. The game itself is a daily task and is about making quick moves to the next guys and knowing who the next man up is. The fantasy baseball season is truly a chess match. I am currently in two Leagues, and I wanted to share my teams with you guys and keep you updated on what I am doing. For Fantasy Baseball, there are only two right platforms to play on. Yahoo and ESPN. There a few different types of scoring you can use for each. There are a few different roster setups you can you. There are even different ways to draft. Currently, in my ESPN league, which I have been in for many years now, we do an auction draft every year with five keep

Around the Horn: News & Notes

What is up blog, this should be coming out Wednesday so HAPPY Wednesday! We are going to get excited to see replays in twice as many angels this year. They are going from 12 to 24. I think this is good for baseball as the MLB keeps trying new things this year. We will not see this at all from the Blue Jays home park is Canada as the Canadian Government said nope, no baseball. The team is looking into playing at PNC Park, possibly among other options. We have some good news, well exciting news, and well-deserved honor. Dr. Anthony Fauci will be throwing out the first pitch of the 2020 MLB Season in the Washington Nationals v. New York Yankees game. We got some more clarity on opening day starters, which I think is exciting. German Marquez of the Colorado Rockies, Aaron Nola of the Philidelphia Phillies is just our latest two that I know for sure. There will be more clarity as the week goes on. Time to jump into some injury news that's slowly coming out. I did feel injury news wo

What is going on blog? I hope you all are doing super well! If you haven't already get on over to facebook.com/ballboyblog and give my facebook some love. I am trying to get to 100 followers by the end of the month! We have another right amount of news and notes to get into today, so lets jump right in. If you play MLB, The Show gets used to hearing the same crowd noise during games this season. The first thing I want to talk about is how well the MLB is doing with its testing and keeping players safe. Today July 17th, out of 17949 tests, there have only been 23 positive tests! The MLB shows all other sports that it can be done and can keep players and personnel safe. In some more COVID-19 news Yasiel Puig who just signed with the Braves tested positive for COVID-19 and is NOT going to sign with the team and will sit out until he has two tests back to back with negative results. Puig not signing hurts the Braves a little bit more as they can not get a break. Another member of t

News&Notes from around the MLB

What is going on, BLOG! Thanks for the continued support, as always. I genuinely do love you guys. As you guys know, I am hot on the tail of 100 Facebook followers. Once I hit this mark, I hope to possibly branch out to Youtube and other possible audio/video content. That means, I need your help, click this link www.facebook.com/ballboyblog and follow and like the page. All the support helps a ton! Let's catch up on the last week or so of activity from around the MLB. With only a week to go until the opening day, these moves are more and more critical. Buster Posey C for the San Fransico Giants is sitting out the season. Joey Bart's time is now. The situation is simple for Posey and his wife, as they just adopted twins who were born prematurely. Congrats to his family and nothing but respect from me. Posey will go down as one of the best to ever play C when his career is over, and it's not there yet. Masahiro Tanaka P for the NY Yankees is making progress as he goes thro

IMO: 2020 Team Predictions NL Central

What is going on the blog, happy Wednesday hope everyone is getting over the hump! Today we will talk about my predictions for the NL Central and which team will come out on top. Before we get too far into it, I want to thank my friends over at Now, let's jump in as we have done the last week we are going to be talking about the teams 5-1 and why. Then at the bottom will be my final predictions for the record. The NL Central was a bit easier to do than the NL East, and NL West is still a competitive division where things could change quickly. But overall, this is how I see things shaking out. 5. Coming in the last place is the Pittsburg Pirates. With Marte leaving via trade leaves a big hole in the lineup. With the additions of Jarrod Dyson, Francisco Liriano, Guillermo Heredia as the only FA additions. With a group of youngsters including Mitch Keller, Erik Gonzalez, Kevin Newman, Oniel Cruz, Blake Cederlind, Cody Ponce, Will Craig, and top organization prospect Ke' Bryan

IMO: 2020 Team Predictions NL East

What is up blog! Happy Monday to ya! Hope yall are doing well and enjoying the content. We are a week closer to Major Leauge Baseball and I am pumped! Like we did last week with AL teams we are going to go 5-1 with a short breakdown as to why I think each team finishes where they do. This division is probably the hardest to predict after 5. But the top 4 are all so good and talented. It's going to come down to divisional games. 5- The Miami Marlins take the cake for the bottom of the division, with some high upside signings for them. Unlike their NFL counterpart Dolphins who are buying their way back into contention. New arrivals of Corey Dickerson, Brandon Kintzler, Francisco Cervelli, Matt Joyce, Yimi Garcia, Stephen Tarpley, Johnathan Villar, Jesus Aguilar are among the group that hopes to rebuild value and find themselves on a better team and in a better situation. With young players of JJ Bleday, Braxton Garrett, Trevor Rodgers, Jose Devers, Edward Cabrera, Jazz Chisholm, Sixt

IMO: 2020 Team Predictions AL West

In today's post, we are going to dig into the AL West and where each team is going to fall this season. Let's jump in, as usual; we are going to go bottom to top so 5-1 5. Starting at the bottom of the division. This team pains me to put here, but hey, it is what it is. The Seattle Mariners fall to 5th place in the AL West. Mind you; they are playing against the NL West as well this season for 20 games and the already tough AL West for 40 games. The other teams are just a lot better. The M's have far too many question marks surrounding them. Who is going to play, and where and how well are they going to do? That is the main one. With arrivals of Evan White at 1B jumping from AA, Shed Long looking to prove himself at 2B. The OF has a bright future on the Taxi Squad. While Kyle Lewis and Braden Bishop look to earn their keep as well as Jake Fraley. The rotation is also a huge question after Marco Gonzalez, Yusei Kikuchi, Kendall Gravemen. I think that Justus Sheffield, Justin

IMO: 2020 Team Predictions AL Central

Today we are going to look at the AL Central and who I think is going to make the playoffs this season. Before we get into today's, I want to shoutout my friends over at reppsportsand RAZE energy. Just delicious energy with no crash. I have a giveaway still going on my facebook, go like and follow the page https://www.facebook.com/ballboyblog/ . We are going to go bottom to top with each team starting with 5. This division is tough for me to say who will be at the bottom of the division. Which shows how big of a talent gap is between these bottom two teams and the top 3. I am going to have to put the Kansas City Royals at the bottom of the division. Yes, KC has the Super Bowl champion Cheifs and this team did win a WS less than ten years ago. With a ton of questions everywhere on this roster. The pitching with injury history and inconsistency loomed in Kyle Zimmer, Mike Montgomery, Ashe Russell, Bradley Singer, and Gabe Speier. When it comes to the position players, we do expec

IMO: 2020 Team Predictions NL West

How are you guys doing today? We are going to get into one of the tougher divisions and probably my favorite one on paper. Between the NL/AL West, we are going to see some of the best baseballs. These are two of the more competitive divisions. With this division again today, we have a close race that will be decided in the last series. As per usual we are going to go 5 to 1 Before we get into it today, lets shoutout. 5. The SF Giants are full-on rebuild mode or at least getting close. Getting rid of franchise cornerstone in Mad-Bum, having Posey possibly sitting out. Hoping for a rebound from Jeff Samardzija, Johnny Cueto, Drew Smyly, Kevin Gausman, Hunter Pence, Tony Watson, among others. This team has a way to many question marks. If all the above players play to career normals, then this team is better than expected. The lineup doesn't impress me either with the attention of youngsters Joey Bart, Mauricio Dubon, Jaylin Davis, and Steven Duggar. The focus is in the future and

IMO: 2020 Team Predictions AL East

Today, I want to jump in and start giving my predictions as to which teams I think we are going to see still playing after 60 games. But I wouldn't be able to write without my friends over at Reppsports, who give me the fuel to produce content for you guys. I am currently teamed up with them for the LTO giveaway. We are giving away boxes with $46 value. You only pay to ship. Use my code BALLBOY over at https://reppsports.come/free. Don't forget to use my CODE BALLBOY at checkout to get the best of deals! AL East: Here are my predictions of how I think this division is going to shake out from bottom to top. 5. Baltimore Orioles- This one is a pretty easy slot for me. This division is incredibly sturdy. I don't think the O's are quite close enough to contention to compete in a 60 game season. HOWEVER, this team is still going to be a tough out. We are going to see the kids playing this season and getting their reps in. The O's are probably about 2-4 years out fro

IMO: Player/Team Impacts due to Covid pt2.

Happy 4th of July. Well, at least writing this is on the 4th. It's coming out after that. But none the less. A lot of player/team news to talk about. Let's jump in The Minnesota Twins have four players who tested positive, including star Miguel Sano. The Twins getting this news hurts them as they are a lock for me in the AL Central almost. Even without Sano, this team is still outstanding. Look for Marwin Gonzalez, Jake Cave, and maybe even Nelson Cruz to get the reps at 1B for the Twins if Sano isn't 100% by the start of the season. Good news for the Twins new arrival Josh Donaldson isn't sitting out. The face of the Franchise and Star C Salvador Perez of the KC Royals tested positive as well. This news hurts the Royals, who I have projected to be at the bottom of the division. This news doesn't help them at all to be more competitive. The door is now wide open for MJ Melendez to make an impact among other prospects. Another Face of the Franchise and Star C Buster
