IMO: 2020 Season News UPDATE

Hey Ball Boy Blog Fans! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the content. I have a lot of great content to come in the next couple weeks: Including my take on current players who deserve to get into the HOF or maybe fall just short. The next is my take on PEDs and Steroids in the HOF. Really excited about these pieces.

Some recent news as of today 5/11/2020, happy belated Mothers day to all the Mothers and Single Dads and Grandparents and other relatives who fill in as Moms.

Okay first update: It is looking more and more like that we will have an 80 game season starting around July first. With a quick spring training pt two starting in June. Then we would also see an expanded playoff. The divisions would also look something like: NL/AL West would be the West- 10 teams, NL/AL Central- 10 teams, and NL/AL East- 10 teams. Which would keep players closer to home, and be able to keep them close to their loved ones! Then going with 7 teams from each division going to the playoffs. This would be awesome for teams and we would more than like see a universal DH! I think this is great for the game to make sure we always see the best hitters on each team, in every single game!  I love this! I really do. The mix of divisions and teams and players we would see battling would be awesome. I love it.

Second: The MLB draft will be remote and only 5 rounds and players would be eligible for 20K UDFA contracts. I really see this as an interesting thing for teams. If teams don't hit on those players then we could see a lot of turnover of scouts. We will also kind of see some of that stigma of being drafted or undrafted go away because I see a lot of kids who get the UDFA contract making it big because they were overlooked. All the best luck for this year's pool of kids!

Third: MLBPA is preparing for "war" if the MLB owners try to reduce salaries any more. I really do not agree with the player's side of this. But I do get it. They are humans, they have families and bills to pay just like you and me. They did also already agree to a prorated salary based on games played back in March But honestly, they should take a pay cut so that they can play the game and give the country some hope for a slight return to normalcy. These guys can little provide hope to millions of people and give people something to watch. This could really give baseball the jump start it needs to get back to higher relevancy.

Fourth: In sad news, the World Baseball Classic was pushed from 2021 back to 2023 today for health reasons. Since this is international baseball. Players from different areas of the world get together to play this really makes sense. Sad, but it makes sense.

Fifth: a study was done on 5603 MLB employees for Covid-19 showed 0.7% of all tested had antibodies and 0 died from the virus. I see this a good thing for baseball as it shows that personnel is healthy and gave players reassurance to return to the field. So LETS PLAYBALL

Lastly: TUESDAY, May 12 the MLB owners are expected to propose their plan to the MLBPA for the resumption of baseball. This play was approved by all owners TODAY Monday, May 11th. This is so exciting as it really gives me A LOT of hope and promises that we are going to see Baseball come July!
