NL West Update: Colorado Rockies

Overall
The Rockies already have some long term deals in place with German Marquez and Nolan Arenado so why shouldn't Jon Gray and Trevor Story get some long term deals. These 4 are the core for the Rockies so let's see it happen!  Granted Story only got a 2-year deal. But that doesn't quite seem long enough in my opinion
Some young guys the Rox are looking to step up and become long pieces Brendan Rodgers, Sam Hilliard, Raimel Tapia Yonathan Daza-who was optioned to AAA. Ben Bowden. If the Rox did move Arenado, which would be a terrible idea. They have Josh Fuentes- Arenado's own cousin and Tyler Nevin and Colton Welker who all appear as options.
Overall I want nothing for the best for Rox this season and going forward, but their window is not there right now as they have much better teams in the Dodgers, D-Backs, and Padres who are much further ahead of them in terms of contention opportunity. Sorry Rox fans, you have one of the best players to ever play 3B in Nolan Arenado and a really good SS in Storey but it doesn't look like its all going to come together for this team in the next few years. But, who knows its baseball and crazier things have happened.

Hitting
Daniel Murphey coming off a season where he saw the first batch of negative stats of his career. Which means the now 34yo could be on the backside of his career. This is why I have such a hard time to give guys in their early 30's anything more than 5MIL a year and prove it deal. The Rockies gave him a 2 year 24MIL deal. Which yikes look bad now. Murphy a relatively solid player in his career. Wasn't let's hope the 2nd year of the deal gives the Rockies better results and doesn't go down any worse path for the team.

Pitching
Kyle Freeland, yes Kyle Freeland a 2018 CYyoung candidate in his mid-20s was so bad in 2019 that he was optioned to AAA at one point and then recalled and ended the year with a 6.73ERA compared to 2.85ERA in 2018 and pitched only 104 1/3IP at the MLB level. The steep drop off for Freeland was one of the reasons the Rockies were a bottom of the division teams in 2019 after being a playoff team in 2018
Another guy who was quite sad and really hard to watch last season for the Rockies was- Wade Davis. I remember now long ago when before the 2018 season he signed a 3 year deal of 52MIL. Davis used to be UNTOUCHABLE! Like seriously he was so good and I just remember him- in terms of fantasy value being incredibly valuable and one of the best options for pitching in fantasy. Now after two bad years and probably one of the worst we have seen in recent memory for a closer who only pitched 42 2/3IP to have an 8.65ERA! ugh and in stat cast were toward the bottom in every category.
The Rockies optioned 3 pitchers including their only FA signing of the winter in Jose Mujica along with Ryan Castellani, Jesus Tinoco
