AL Central Update: Chicago White Sox
Overall:
The Chi Sox have an insane amount of young talent Michael Kopech(P), Nick Madrigal(2B), Danny Mendick(IF), Zack Collins(C), Seby Zayala(C), Zack Burdi(P), Ian Hamilton(P)- all could be making an impact here in 2020 and into 2021.
Another big thing the Chi Sox has extended their young core but has more pieces like Giolitto, Reynaldo Lopez, Dylan Cease, Michael Kopech, Carlos Rodon all pitchers. For position players Nomar Mazara, Nick Madrigal.
I am really excited about this team and their soon to be a very competitive team in the AL Central right next to the Twins. They're young, they have guys in their prime like Grandal. They made a bunch of moves this offseason to just make them better and get guys at the right time. Baseball has a weird set of age to see where guys hit their prime years and how long they last. It should be a good next few years for the South Siders as their contention window opens.

Hitting:
Yoan Moncada got the bag. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone as the White Sox really value him and see him as a future cornerstone for this organization. Moncada got a 5-year 70Mil extension that goes through 2024 and a club option for 2025. There is also a total signing bonus of 65MIl paid out in different amounts during the contract. The 2025 option is a 25Mil with a 5Mil bonus. Bringing the total amount to 170Mil over that time span. This contract is great as it avoids all arbitration, and his first year of free agency and locks him up until he is 30. So getting a budding star in his prime. Good call White Sox. Zack Collins(C) was optioned to AAA after the Chi Sox signed Yasmani Grandal and James McCann is still there. So possibly we see Collings move to 1B as Jose Abreu possibly goes into more of a DH role. On this note Yermin Mercedes and P, Jose Ruiz was optioned to AAA
Pitching:
Lucas Giolitto is an interesting case for the White Sox as he is 25 coming off a good season, has had a few health issues. I think his contract is one to pay attention to, I think coming off a top-level season, shows what he can do and I think when the 2020 season gets going and we Giolitto again and if he as another good season. Look to see Giolitto get a solid 4-5 year deal maybe 35-45MIL.
Another guy who the Chi Sox need to recover quickly from his TJ is Michael Kopech, once the season gets underway we should see a healthy Kopech. Look to see him at AAA to start the season after he was optioned and then get to the MLB level not too long after that.
