NL West Review: LA Dodgers

Overall:
The Dodgers have a deep, deep well of MiLB talent, the best team in baseball in my opinion that could win it with just their hitting or their defense/pitching. Well, they have every box checked for now and will most than likely win the 2020 WS and be in the NLCS or WS for many years to come.
One guy that has all the well wishes from me is OF Conner Joe after being diagnosed with Testicular cancer in March and undoing surgery. We wish for a speedy recovery and a return to baseball and full health for this man.
I like to talk about prospects and guys to watch in this section and the Dodgers have no lack of excellent talent on the rise in the Minors. So, if they ever did want to cut payroll and go young. They could still compete. In other words, their championship window is a long one. A few guys to mention are IF Gavin Lux who should be the 2B for now and the future for the Dodgers. In terms of rotation, they have Dustin May, Tony Gonsolin who are looking like future rotation pieces. In terms of bullpen pieces Brusdar Grateroll, Josiah Gray in the pen. Mote position players C Keibert Ruiz is blocked bu Will Smith but should smith need a solid backup and proving himself at the MLB level Keibert will get the first shot. IF/OF Edwin Rios, CF DJ Peters, UTIL man Zach McKinstry who could see action if Chris Taylor or Enrique Hernandez get hurt or struggle.

Shoutout:
If you need to make some extra cash during COVID-19 try Stash-It. The business is like AirBnB but for the self-storage industry. So people can rent out their garage or storage shed, and even their driveway for others to use. If you have space, list it on their website. It’s completely free and they only make money if you do. You set the price! You set the terms! Use the promo code "YOUNG" and use your storage space to make some easy money! Stashitselfstorage.com

Hitting:
The Dodgers got a lot better offensively when they got Mookie Betts. But they have one guy who could use a small rebound after a down 2019. That guy is Enrique Hernandez the UTIL man. He is an effective player that helps the Dodgers when he is one because he can slot into the line and make an impact all around the field. He went up by 4% in SO percentage and down 3% in Walk percentage. If he can possibly get those flipped. The Dodgers would be very happy.
The Dodgers had two extremely talented prospects they traded away to the RedSox in exchange for Mookie Betts. But that's not a worry as they have the likes of OF Cody Bellinger who is only 24 and could one day be the HR king and will be competing with Pete Alonso of the Mets for several HR Debry titles, they need to lock him up to a long term deal now. This is the kind of player that I like to see locked up long term to a 7-10yr deal. As we have seen with Nelson Cruz, power stays cool. Bellinger can move to 1B down the line for the Dodgers and if they can lock him up to a backloaded deal. Then they just won that deal! A couple other guys the Dodgers may want to look at shortly for early extensions are C Will Smith and IF Gavin Lux. Both will have sizeable roles with the Dodgers for the foreseeable future.

Pitching:
Thie pitching side of this team is very solid as I talked about in "West Review: LA Edition". But they have a couple guys who are needing to rebound. The first is former Dodger Alex Wood who is working back from a back injury that limited to 35 2/3IP last season and during those innings he had a 5.80ERA. The 29yo signed a 4mil contract with the Dodgers which is the RIGHT kind of contact to be giving him and if he stays healthy the Dodgers just got a great value. The other guy is Blake Treinen also was slowed by injuries last season and had a 4.91ERA over 58 2/3IP, lost his job as the closer for the A's and let go. He somehow did land a 10Mil guarantee with the Dodgers, which is a bad move but if it works, then it works. Good bullpen arms are hard to find.
