AL East Update- Tampa Bay Rays

AL East Update: Tampa Bay Rays

Pitching
The Rays are looking for a strong bounce-back from Jose Alvarado and Blake Snell- yes Snell the former Cy from 2018 didn't look it last season. I know this cause I had him in Fantasy and was pumped, then I was sad when he had surgery and missed the season. Then he had another cortisone shot in his elbow and was looking to miss the start of the season. But should be fine now- thanks to the suspension.

Rays and Tyler Glasnow are also talking extension- when healthy Glasnow is great on the bump and can dominate. The injuries do make the extension a little tricky.

Ryan Yarbrough has is a contract renewed for 2020 as well. We have seen him be an effective piece in the pen for the Rays

Hitters
The Rays are looking for a strong bounce back at the plate from Mike Zunino(C) let's just say his offense was awful and you can look up those stats, but I rather not put them in. As a Mariners fan, losing Mike Z was awful. I literally saw this guy hit his first MLB HR in Oakland. Just a great player defensively. I hope he turns it around at the plate. Joey Wendle(IF/OF) is also someone they are looking to get back to the 2018 form. Granted he did have injuries to start the year and didn't bounce back. Another one the Rays are looking to have a strong bounce-back is Jose Martinez(1B/OF) after the trade to Tampa they rays are looking for him to get back to his strong career numbers in STL.

Rays and Austin Meadows talked extension- he is only 25 so locking down a 30HR and almost 300BA seems smart. He did have his contract renewed for the season, however.

Overall
I think the Rays are in a great spot. Looking back at the offseason and moves that were made the Rays are in a spot to contend once again and possibly go deep into the playoffs. They did add some power to the offense so the 21/30 ranking on HR should see an increase as they try to keep up with the Yankees for the top of the division
