NL East Update- Philadelphia Phillies

Pitching:
The guy who I need to see something from if I was a Phillies fan is Jake Arrieta, He has not shown that he should have gotten the massive deal he got back in 2018. last year he did have serious injuries so with the extra rest, we should see a good return to form for the Arrieta. Who has the best beard in MLB. Seranthony Domingues/Victor Arano both had solid years in 2018 and then the injury bug bit them in 2019 and slowed them done. Hopefully, we can see some good rebounds and healthy seasons.
Speaking of Dominguez, he was slated to get an MRI after a setback and the discomfort he felt.

Hitting:
One of the newest members of the team is Didi Gregorius who has a 1 year deal with the team. He did have TJ surgery and is coming off a below-average season last year. So taking all these factors into account we have seen great things from Didi and I expect him this season to produce and be a solid piece for the Phillies.
The JT Realmuto extension has been a big topic of discussion for this team as he wants to top Buster Posey's deal and get something similar to that which Paul Goldschmidt signed. Now these are two different comparisons as Posey's deal was when he was 26 and his deal ended up becoming a 9-year deal because it was an 8 year deal on top of his 1-year deal to avoid arbitration back in 2013 Goldschmidt was just one season before free agency and a little older then Realmuto. Also, Goldy plays 1B and is an elite offensive player and Realmuto can hit but play Gold Glove defense.  Then you think of the recent catcher extension of Russell Martin and Brian McCann who were both upwards of 80mil and 5 years. Realmuto is also older than both Posey and Joe Mauer when they got their record deals. I think Realmuto gets about a 5 year maybe 100Mil deal and will stay in Philly.
Also, if you haven't read or heard about the resurfacing of the Ryan Howard for Albert Pujols trade back in 2010 go check it out on bleacher report. I think it's one of those fun things to look at and think about what could have been. (https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/03/rumor-retrospection-the-would-be-albert-pujolsryan-howard-trade.html)
The Phillies also signed Venezuelan speedster CF Yhoswar Garcia after almost a year due to an age restriction. Def lookout for this kid as he comes up. He has speed and plus defensive skills. Teams don't try for a year to sign a prospect, that should tell you something.

Overall:
This is one of the tougher divisions in baseball and the Phillies are all in right now and look to be going for it and get a championship. I personally think they have the pieces and the strongest group and most ready to win group in the division. But not for long as the Mets and Braves get better and better and the Nationals still hang around much like the Raptors after loosing a star player.
