NL East Update: Miami Marlins

NL East Update: Miami Marlins

Pitching:
Of course, the Marlins also have some guys who on the bump they hope can turn it around. Adam Conley, he pitched to just a below 7ERA last season and hopefully, he can return to the form he had in 2018 and then be dealt to a contender because pen help is always in high demand. Drew Steckenrider is the other guy I wanna talk about. in 2018 he and Conly were coming up as really solid late-inning guys out of the pen and then 2019 happened and for Steckenrider he had elbow problems and only pitched 14 1/3 innings and he had 10ER and 6HR in that limited action. Heres to both of them regaining form and moving to a contending team where their talents will be valued and needed to win.
It seems like everyone I write out for Miami is a trade piece. Which is accurate because of how bad they are going to be and what stage they are in the rebuild. Jose Urena is looking to rebound to a strong season hopefully he builds off his strong spring and can be moved to somewhere he can flourish.

The likes of Matt Joyce, Matt Kemp were tracking to make the opening day roster and provide depth in the OF and off the bench. We also weren't able to see who between Harold Ramirez, Lewis Brinson, Garrett Copper, Monte Harrison would end up getting to be in the timeshare with Matt Joyce. I guess we will see.

Hitters:
The Marlins did a lot of signings this offseason and added a couple guys who need to show some value so they can get traded to a contender. Jesus Aguilar is the first one I will talk about. In 2018 he had 35HR and was just an offensive machine. He did not follow it up well in 2019 so hopefully, in Miami, he can show up again and then hitting some more HR, he is only 29 and if he can recoup some value and end up on a contender in the AL as a DH. Francisco Cervelli, the 34 yo catcher if he isn't slowed by a concussion then he will serve as a good compliment and get to finish out his career in Florida and should mentor Jorge Alfaro.

We do know that the Marlins were working on getting Yasiel Puig, he did turn down and NL offer, not sure if it was from the Marlins but they ended up signing Corey Dickerson to a 2-year deal. Dickerson was one of my favorite guys to watch when he got to the MLB and I still think he is talented, take away the injuries I think he is a really good OF and should prove to be that in Miami and hopefully like other vets on this team with value, get traded to a place where he can win.

They did give Jonathan Villar a good look in CF and it seems they could use him there so that Brian Anderson, Miguel Rojas, and Isan Diaz can get some development and lock down the IF. Villars's contract is up after this season.

Also the bullpen with Brad Boxberger who has my favorite player week jersey of all time. he was looking to be locked into a setup role in the bullpen.

Overall
Miami looks to be right there with Baltimore for the worst team in the MLB to get the number one pick. Miami has a lot of vet players who need to rebuild some value and in Miami, they can do that and go to a contending team. I really think this team will continue to get better and younger with prospects.
