NL Central Update: Milwaukee Brewers

Pitching
The Brewers signed RP Freddy Peralta to a 5yr extension this spring which gives them good leverage in the rotation and is able to get the prime years out of him for cheap.
Eric Lauer was expected to miss time and be put on IL to start the new season, we may not have to miss him much of the new campaign. But if he does miss time expect to see possibly Freddy Perala, Corbin Burnes and Trey Supak who are all on the 40man to take a rotation spot. Jake Faria and Shelby Miller could also be in line for the spot.
Corbin Burns after he was solid in 2018 when he came on as a solid pen arm. He had an awful followup performance of 8.82ERA over 49IP regardless of a 12.86k/9. This guy can miss bats at a ridiculous swinging strike percentage of 17.2 and his K/9 is impressive. So if he can get the rest of his game together. He could become a household name for RP and the 25 could be getting the bag if he can prove it.
Corey Knebel, the only real reason I think he needs to bounce back is that they need him to stay healthy to stabilize the back end of the bullpen. Now after TJ surgery. and the suspension of the season we could get Knebel back into form for the whole season. Which would be awesome, to say the least.

Hitting
LOMO- or Logan Morrison has come out and said we will not accept a Minor Leauge Assignment from the Brewers which he won't have to because of his contract and because he has 6+ years of service time and ended last year on a 40 man. I do expect him to end up with a platoon role somewhere this season.
Yelich got the BAG! At 28 years old, the 2020-2021 salaries will stay from his 7-year deal. The new deal starts in 2022 and will pay 26Mil annually and run through 2028 which is when he will be in his late 30s, probably still just being the best player in the NL and probably have been on several MLB The Show Games. He also has a full no-trade clause ane NO opt-out clause at all in this deal. This guy is really only comparable in skill level to that of Mike Trout. Like Trout is number one and there's only a small dip to Yelich. The best part of this deal is 4mil of his new deal is deferred a year to pay him well into retirement, which doesn't add some financial smarts I don't know what are.
The Brew Crew and their awesome uniforms have a few guys they need to bring it around at the plate in Lorenzo Cain- who turned 33 and just looks to have lost a step. He stole 12 fewer bases than in 2018 when he had 30 to last season when he had 18. He walked less and had a very average line at the plate.
They also need Justin Smoak- who as a Mariners fan I am glad to see start to bloom after he left Seattle. Then I was sad that yet another guy ball out after leaving Seattle. Smoak had and BA of 208 which is bad. They need him to get his average back up and hit some dingers.
Lastly is another FA signing of Jedd Gyorko he had a really bad 171BA but had a season full of injury and sadness. If he can stay healthy and produce close to his 2016-2018 the Brewers got a great value.
Last note: Ryan Healy was optioned to AAA this tells me he isn't quite ready after August hip surgery. But at some point in 2020, we should see Healy with the Brewers as a good depth piece to help at both 3B and 1B and as a solid right-handed bat off the bench. Also with him, C David Freitas, IF Mark Mathias and Ronny Rodriguez were sent to AAA as well.

Overall
I think this team has a ton of young talent that they would want to keep in- Josh Hader, Keston Hiura, Brandon Woodruff, Adrian House, and my fav Corbin Burnes getting a new deal. Overall this team is very rock solid. With not many if any weaknesses for opposing teams to exploit except if Yelich takes a day off. But Yelich in my mind is the Brewers and will lead this team, to greatness until 2028 and I do not see them not putting talent around him to win some championships. They cant let Giannas and the Bucks get all the love. This is an exciting time for Milwaukee fans as they have a top 3 guy in the MLB and a top 3 guy in NBA in my opinion, I see this city being very happy and having a few championship parades in years to come.
